Firm Believers in Giving Back

Laura Lassman and her team at Play for P.I.N.K are the unsung heroes of the breast cancer awareness movement. Why? Because they raise funds for breast cancer research through a very grassroots approach—local sporting events. Even more inspiring is that they aren’t out to reinvent the wheel. 100 percent of all donations raised through Play for P.I.N.K. events are given directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Since 1996, they’ve contributed over 38.5 million dollars and are currently supporting 17 research projects by 25 of the world’s most groundbreaking breast cancer researchers,..

For almost ten years, A-1 Moving has rented Play for P.I.N.K a room for their goodie bag items and provided inventory and logistical services as well. But for both A-1 and Play for P.I.N.K it’s not just another business deal.

“We feel like A-1 is part of the P.I.N.K family and we are part of theirs. They are firm believers in giving back and they see that it’s not just about themselves,” says Laura Lassman. Founder and President of Play for P.I.N.K.
The relationship started when Lassman knew she was spending too much time sorting, packing and delivering goodie bags. She needed to hire someone so she could have more time to fundraise and encourage her supporters. But, she wanted Play for P.I.N.K to hire a company with values. After she found A-1 Moving & Storage, she never looked anywhere else.

“A-1 gives us the opportunity to raise money in other ways. We don’t have to worry about this part of it. They are efficient. They’ve never let us down. There’s never been a club that hasn’t received the shipment they’ve needed,” says Lassman.

For the A-1 Family, partnering with Play for P.I.N.K. is rewarding because they feel like they are part of something larger than their jobs. When Holly Vivolo, A-1’s Accountant and Lassman’s primary contact, found out that Play for P.I.N.K. had raised 4.5 million dollars in 2014 she exclaimed, “Woo-hooooo! I was part of helping to raise that!”

For both A-1 Moving & Storage and Play for P.I.N.K., it’s more than a working relationship or a business deal.
